New elastomeric compositions: preparation and properties
The products of reaction of 1,2-dichloroethane, sodium tetrasulphide and vinyl monomers (styrene, acrylonitrile) have been used as cross-linking agents for dienic elastomers, in particular for Buleks-1500, Bulgaria-made butadiene-styrene rubber. The effect of these products on the rheological properties of rubber mixtures, their resistance to prevulcanization, rate of vulcanization, degree of rubber cross-linking and mechanical properties of vulcanizates has been investigated. It has been found that the products under study are better cross-linking agents for butadiene-styrene rubber than sulphur, and that the thus-prepared vulcanizates exhibit good mechanical properties.
