Summary

Epoxide compositions characterized by low viscosity at room temperature, long life and good thermomechanical and optical properties after curing have been prepared and used fo r the encapsulation of opto-electronic elements by the modern casting method. These compositions contain diglycidylether of bisphenol A isolated from Epidian 6 resin by vacuum distillation (after previous addition of an aliphatic diepoxide compound) and a hardner prepared by chemical modification o f hexahydrophthalic anhydride with an aliphatic alcohol (2-ethylhexanol-l) and polyoxypropylene glycol. As curing accelerators in these compositions, salts o f amines and strong organic acids or phosphonium salts have been used.
