The results of studies on the synthesis of isooctyl esters of an eutectic mixture of tetra- and hexahydrophthalic acids were presented. As esters of non-aromatic cyclic dicarboxylic acids, they exibit an enhanced resistance to the action of UV irradiation. This fact was confirmed by tests carried out for PVC films plasticized with these esters. Tests were performed according to the Polish Standards. By epoxidation reaction of diisooctyl ester of cis-

Δ4-tetrahydrophthalic acid there was prepared a new type of plasticizer with built-in epoxide groups and with potential stabilizing characteristics. The optimum conditions of the synthesis process of diisooctyl esters of cycloaliphatic acids were established and a particular suitability of methane sulphonic acid as a non-oxidizing catalyst of this process was demonstrated.
