DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1984.397

Summary

Hungarian agriculture used 3,800 tonnes of plastics in 1965, 8,200 tonnes in 1970, 23,000 tonnes in 1975 and is presently using 42,000 tonnes per annum which amounts to 10—11 per cent of the total consumption. The application of solar energy will be intensified by growing early vegetables under plastics film, by improving heat insulation materials and constructions and perfection of solar energy collectors. Use will be made of the energy of thermal water and of the hot water of industrial origin conducted through plastics pipes. In agriculture plastics play an important part in irrigation and economic water management an in the storage of water. The slowest development of plastics is noted in animal husbandry; more plastics could be used in animal buildings and equipment. Plastics also have an important role in preserving the quality of agricultural products.
