Photo-destructible polymers – methods of preparation and trends in applications

Polimery 1982, No 12, 465

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1982.465

Summary

A review of the most important problems connected with the photo-destructible polymers has been given, in particular from the point of removal of polymer waste materials from the natural environment. The main methods of imparting to polymers the susceptibility to an accelerated photo-degradation has been discussed. The attention has been given to photo-destructible polyolefins with carbonyl groups and containing sensibilizers of photo-degradation. Based on the relevant literature data and existing technological solutions in the field of photo-destructible polymers an analysis has been attempted of the suitability of this type materials for the mass consumption and of the prospects of their commercial production.
