DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1996.654

Summary

Plasticized PVC uses have been described for making expendable medical equipment to be contacted for short and long periods of time with human blood. Material specification and methods of evaluation are presented. To be biologically indifferent, plasticized PVC requires raw materials of special physiological properties to be used. Optimization of properties of indigenous suspension PVC and di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (plasticizer) allowed to prepare high-quality medical-grade plasticized PVC that compares well with the corresponding foreign products.
