Dangers connected with the increase in the amount of scrap polymers, their potential applications as solid fuels and the uses of photochemically degraded polymers have been presented. Regeneration of polymers separated from scrap materials is limited by their instability during reprocessing operations. A mathematica model of the degree of depreciation during regeneration processes has been proposed. Two kinds of coefficients have been employed in this model: k < 1 —degree of degeneration (depreciation) per one processing step and φ < 1 — weight of polymer fraction recycled to the charging hopper afte reach processing step. This model enables the cslculation of properties in dependence on the desired (ideal) number of processing steps without resort to higher mathematics.
