Summary

Poly(carbonate-ester) multiblock copolymers (PEC) containing 5—60 wt.% of flexible aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carbonate segments (PC) were synthesized by using oligo(carbonate diols) Duracarb 122 (aliphatic, Mn= 950, PCa) and Duracarb 140 (cycloaliphatic, Mn =650, PCc) by a three-step catalyzed melt polycondensation. The degree of polycondensation (x) of the hard segments of oligo(butylene terephthalate) (PTB) varied from 2.4 to 67.3. The oligomers and the resulting copolymers were examined by 1H-NMR, IR, DSC, viscosimetry, and elemental chemical analysis methods.
