Summary

The measuring methodology of, and polymer applications in, the high-dose dosimetry have been reviewed. The use of PMMA, cellulose triacetate, PE and PS in absolute and relative methods has been described. The latter methods use the polymer as the actual dosimetric material (transparent polymer) or as a passive or active matrix that is endowed with excellent mechanical properties for carrying the dosimetric material (e.y., polymer—dye and polymer—alanine composites). Both types of polymer dosimeters have been widely used in practice.
