Polymerization of epichlorohydrin in the presence of triethylaluminium-ether-water catalyst system

Summary

The influence of some ethers in the triethylaluminium-ether-water catalyst system on the polymerization of epichlorohydrin has been studied in comparison with the triisobutylaluminium-ether-water system. It has been found that systems containing triethylaluminium decrease the conversion of epichlorohydrin, irrespective of the type of ether, and yield polymer of lower molecular weight and higher crystalline fraction content.
