Preparation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) with a high limiting viscosity numer

The possibility of application of carboxylic compounds of Sn (III) as well as Sb2О3 — citric acid system in the two-stage synthesis of poly(ethylene terephthalate) with a high molecular mass (limiting viscosity number) has been investigated. It has been found that the highest catalytic activity in the polycondensation of di(β-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate has a compound obtained in the reaction of antimonous glycolate with citric acid, In which the molar ratio of citric add to Sb is equal to 1.5 :1 . Similar properies has the Sb2О3 — citric acid system, and Its application in the synthesis of poly(ethylene terephthalate) makes It possible to obtain polymer with limiting viscosity number above 0.75.
