Problems of the lamellar-vacuum calibration in the extrusion process of thermoplastics

Summary

The method of lamellar-vacuum calibration of pipes and closed profiles, hollow inside, has been characterized. It consists in broaching of extruded products through sleeves with pack of calibrating lamellas contained in a vacuum chamber. In this chamber there are also located the sprinkling nozzles ensuring an intensive heat abstraction from the product under calibration. In this method of calibration it is possible to attain both a high extrusion rate and a high dimensional accuracy of the products. The conditions of work of the lamellar-vacuum calibrators have been analyzed and their fields of application presented. The recent development in this field have been described and future tendencies outlined.
