Summary

The results of studies on the radial diversification of the directional refractive indices have been presented for a series of PA-6 fibres and for two samples of PP fibres. In the case of PA-6 fibres,the spinneret-spun raw amorphous and crystalline fibres as well as those fibres after stretching and thermal treatment have been investigated. It has been found that these samples exhibit a high radial diversification of birefringence and that the character of the radial diversification of birefringence characteristic for the spinneret-spun amorphous PA-6 fibres is maintained both after their stretching and crystallization. The raw PP fibres also reveal a high radial diversification of structure and this diversification is maintained after having stretched these fibres
