Recycling of polyurethane elastomers by compression molding

Polimery 1998, No 7-8, 479

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1998.479

Four series of cast urethane elastomers (EUR) were synthesized, differing in the shares of soft segments in the macromolecules (Table 1). The EUR were ground and compression molded. A study was made on the effect of the chemical structure of the starting EUR and compression molding conditions (210—250°C, time 90 s or 210 s) on the specific gravity, hardness, impact resistance, resilience and tensile properties on elongation of the resulting recyclates. The temperature of 230°C and the time of 210 s were found to be optimum EUR compression molding parameters.

Keywords: recycling of urethane elastomers, compression molding, physical and mechanical properties of recyclates
