Rheological characteristics of vinyl chloride polymers in the molten state
The method of capillary rheometry has been applied for the characterization of viscoelastic properties of vinyl chloride homopolymers and its copolymers with propylene and vinyl acetate in the molten state fo r samples of different molecular mass. The relationship of viscosity vs. shear rate — η (γ) for these products has been presented in the form o f a master curve. The die swell values have been used for the description o f elastic properties o f the melts in the form of the relationship of the normal stress coefficient vs. shear rate — Ψ1( γ). The material function η (γ) depends both on the molecular mass and on the composition of copolymers, whereas on the Ψ1( γ) an essential influence has almost exclusively molecular mass.
