Summary

Fundamentals of the small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) method were summarized with particular reference to the structural studies of semicrystalline polymers. Traits were given of the SAXS evaluation of the supermolecular structure, scattering of X-rays by the ideal lamellar structure, the effect of defects in the ideal lamellar arrangement on the one dimensional correlation function, thickness of the transition zone and the rate of radiation scattered by the lamellar system. The SAXS diffraction curves as certained in this work were submitted to direct and indirect analysis based on the structure models described.
