Summary

A brief review with reference to papers and patents of the history and results of research at the Żoliborz's Chemical Institute in the field of synthesis, processing and applications of various organosilicon monomers and polymers was presented. The main commercially developed manufacturing processes and development of the production and application of silicones in Poland were discussed and a tabular list of tested and actually manufactured products with their names given. It was pointed out that a considerable delay in the quantitative and assortment consumption level of silicones in Poland in comparison with the industrially developed countries exists. A proposition was submitted that rapid changes in this field in next years are to be anticipated.
