Some properties and applications of radiation modified polymeric materials

Summary

A review of properties and applications of radiation modified polymers was done. Such modification improves the mechanical, thermal and mechanical properties both of thermoplastics and elastomers. There were presented the processes of crosslinking of cables and wires insulation as well as pipes and thermatly shrinkable fiims, then radiation effects in polymer blends, radiation curing of coatings, paints and polymeric adhesives. Processes of radiation sterilization of most important polymeric materials used in medicine (PP, PVC and UHMW-PE) as well as some possibilities of radiation modifying of new połymeric materials were also described.
