Stereospecific propylene polymerization on titanium-magnesium catalysts
The kinetics of stereospecific propylene polymerization on the TiCl4-MgCl2 system with a donor additive of p-methoxy-ethylbenzoate was investigated. The catalyst activity is equal to 100 kg PP/g Ti-h and the isotactic index of polypropylene is greater than 90 wt %. The mechanism oi the aonor additive action on the course of polymerization has been explained. Propylene has also been polymerized in the presence of a TiCl4-MgCl2 system containing as a polymeric support polyethylene grafted with poly-4-vinylpyridine. In the presence of this polymeric support, polypropylene was obtained with a lower content of dust fraction and with a higher diameter of polymer particles.
