Studies on domestic waxes as rubber antiozonants

Summary

Physical properties of a series of waxes prepared from waxy fractions, of crude oil of various origin and composed of different mixtures of normal and isoparaffin sand naphthenes have been determined and discussed. The efficiency of waxes as antiozonants has been evaluated on the basis of ozone ageing tests of vulcanized rubbers in ozone chamber and under natural ageing conditions. The crystallinity degree of waxes has also been evaluated by the DSC method and correlated with the protective action of waxes. The results of these tests Server for the optimization of protective wax composition. It is currently manufactured under the trade name of Wosten 65. The efficiency of Wosten 65 incommercial rubber mixtures and in final products has been also evaluated.
