Studies on swelling crystallization o f polycarbonate (PC) by the sorption and X –ray methods

The equilibrium sorption and desorption of acetone (MMK), methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and methyl propyl ketone vapours in PC films has been investigated and the effect of the preliminary swelling of these films with saturated vapours of these solvents on the course of the sorption processes determined. X -ray method has been used in the determination of the degree of crystallinity of PC films and a correlation between this degree and the surface of the sorption-desorption hysteresis loop for PC films without preliminary swelling has been observed. This fact makes it possible to trace the advancement of swelling crystallization in some systems of polymer — low-molecular-weight substancje vapour by the sorption measurements.
