Studies on the application of novel phenol-formaldehyde adhesive resins as binders for fibreboard manufacturing

Summary

The suitability of using three novel adhesive resins prepared from the waste products in the synthesis of bisphenol A, as binders in fibreboard manufacturing has been eveluated. Factorial experiment of the 23-type has been used to study the effect of addition of these resins on fibreboard properties, and the experimental results have been subjected to regression analysis. It has been found that the addition of these resins results in an increase in the mechanical strength of the boards and in an improvement of their hydrophobic properties. The fibreboard properties depend to a great extent on the composition of the waste products used in the synthesis of resins.
