Summary

A critical analysis of the main methods used for the determination of bulk density (jn) lias been carried out and the experimental results on the effect on jn of the measuring vessel volume (V), height/diameter ratio (H/D) of the measuring vessel and of the falling height (h) have been presented. Analysis of variance has been applied to the interpretation of results. It has been found that an essential effect on the value of jn has the volume V, the distinct increase in jn with the increase in V takes place up to the value of V equal to 5*10-4 m3; above this value of V the value of en does not change any more. Both the effect of h and of H/D ratio on jn-values is much less pronounced. The results of these investigations suggest that it is indispensable to follow exactly the measurement parameters in order to obtain reproducible results of determinations.
