Studies on the oxidation reaction of polythiomethylene

Polimery 1982, No 8, 302

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.1982.302

The reaction of polythiomethylene oxidation with various oxidizing agents has been studied. It has been found that the oxidation product is poly(methylenesulfone/sulfoxide), a solid with melting point of 408-423 K (with decomposition), Insoluble in organic solvents. Oxidation is accompanied by the degradation-destruction processes, resulting in the formation of gaseous products: CO2 and SO2.
