Summary

A superactive catalytic system, TiCL4/MgCl2/FDB-AlEt3-CMDMS (cyclo-hexyl-methyl-dimethoxy-silane), was examined in propylene polymerizationin hexane. At 70°C the catalytic activity was high and product isotacticities ranged from 98 to 99% by weight. The activity and stereospecificity of the catalytic system was studied in relation to Al/Si mole ratio. The catalytic system modified with propylene prepolymer proved favorable to process kinetics. For the prepolymer-modified catalytic system, the kinetic constants (kp and ktr) and the concentration of active sites were determined.
