Studies on the preparation of coloured acrylonitrile copolymers in homogeneous systems

Summary

In the synthesis of coloured acrylonitrile copolymers a coloured derivative of acrylamide, namely 2-acryloylamino-4-chloro-6-(8'-hydroxy-3',6'- disulphonyl-7'-phcnylazo-r-naphthylamine)-l,3,5-triazine was used as comonomer. Copolymerization reaction was carried out in a 51.5% aqueous solution of NaSCN. The effect of time (0.5–4.0 h) and temperature (60–90°C) of copolymerization, initiator concentration (0.5–3.0 mass-% AIBN per AN) and content of coloured comonomer (0.5–3.0 mass-% per AN) in the reaction mixture on the yield, composition and molecular weight (limiting viscosity number) of copolymers was determined. The optimum conditions of reaction were stablished. The results of fractionation of a copolymer sample by the precipitation method were also presented.
