The melting range, the enthalpy of melting and the crystallinity of PP in PP—exfoliated graphite composites were examined by differential thermal analysis(DTA) and optical microscopy (OM) in relation to the exfoliated graphite content (0—0.310 volume part), constituent mixing conditions (a paddle mixer ora disk-and-screw extruder) and the final destressing heating. Results were interpreted in terms of the graphite-produced continuous long cluster structure formed on crystallization of PP in the composites. This structure, favorable toamorphicity of PP, is related to the graphite content and to the constituent mixing conditions.
