Super high activity catalyst for polymerization of olefins (in English)

Summary

The reactions between the magnesium chloride and transition metal chlorides in tetrahydrofuran were investigated to explain the unique role of MgCl2 as a supporter in propylene polymerization process. Reactions between [MgCl2(THF)2] and [TiCl4(THF)2], in dependence of concentration, produce the compounds: |Mg(THF)6] [TiCl5THF], [C4Ti(µ-Cl)2Mg(THF)4] and [Mg2(µ-Cl)3(THF)4] [TiCl5THF]. Titanium-magnesium compounds under influence of AlCl3 suffer decomposition, yielding [TiCl4(THF)2] and the new compound AlMgCl5(THF)6. The same compound was formed also in chemical reaction of [MgCl2 (THF)2] with AlCl3. This reaction may probably explain the role of magnesium chloride as a supporter in the super high activity catalyst.
