Supramolecular polylactides – methods of preparation and selected properties
Polimery 2016, No 6, 397
This paper presents an overview of our recent work concerning supramolecular polylactides. It is based on the lecture given at 58thAnnual Scientific Meeting of the Polish Chemical Society in September 2015. New synthetic methods and the phenomena related to the formation of supramolecular aggregates of enantiomeric polylactides and their stereocomplexes are presented. A combination of two kinds of supramolecular interactions: the ones between enantiomeric polylactide chains with opposite configuration and those between the complementary end groups of polylactide macromolecules, leads to the formation of materials with different morphology and thermal properties. The main methods used to investigate the process of self-assembly of enantiomeric polylactides and their stereocomplexes are also presented.
: polylactides, supramolecular polymers, stereocomplexation, end-group functionalization
