Polish nonionic surfactans, viz., oxyethylenated derivatives of stearic acid (Rokacets S) and of castor oil (Rokacets R) were characterized in terms of the structural level of the ydrophilic—lipophilic equilibrium (HLB ), the hydrophile/lipophile segments ratio (H/L)micr, critical micellar concentration (cmc), and surface tension at cmc (σcmc @25°C). The topological indices, ΣIC and ΣSIC, and the solubility parameter allowed to estimate the concentration range of the Rokacets within which they exhibit the emulsifying and solubilizing properties. Viscosimetric studies of aqueous and и-propanolic solutions of the Rokacets allowed to establish the limiting viscosity number (η), viscosity- average molecular weights (Mη), effective volume (Ω), and the hydrodynamic micelle radius (Robs) (Table 4). The surface activity of the Rokacets was compared with that of the Brij (imported) non-ionic surfactants. Results show the Rokacets to be applicable as accessory components of selected dermatological drugs and cosmetics.
