Summary

The process of hydrolytic condensation of isobutyltrimethoxysilane was optimized in order to prepare selectively 1,3,5,7,9,11,14-heptaisobutyltricyclo[7.3.3.15,11]heptasiloxane-endo-3,7,14-triol (isobutyltrisilanol). The effects of the solvent type, method of reactant addition and, first of all, the hydrolysis and condensation reaction time on the synthesis yield were investigated. The products were analysed using infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
