Summary

Conditions of the synthesis of oligo(xylylenoxy)dixylyloles by the oxidizing oligomerization of 2,6-xylenol in the presence of diphenols [bis(3,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)methane (MHFM) or 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyljpropane (bisphenol A)] as starters and by subsequent addition of the obtained oligodiphenols to bisphenol A diglycidyl ether or Epidian 6 epoxy resin (molar ratio oligodiphenokdiepoxy compound = 1:2) have been described. Softening points and molecular weights Mn of oligodiphenols and oligodiepoxides have been determined and compared with the calculated values. A good agreement between the calculated theoretical values of Mn (and of the epoxide equivalents) of the oligodiepoxides with those determined experimentally confirm the lack of side reactions during their synthesis.
