Summary


The results of studies on the synthesis of copolymers of methyl methacrylate with methacrylic acid or with maleic anhydride as well as of sodium salts of these copoly­mers have been presented. These studies aimed at the prparation of substrates for the manufacture of detergents for cleaning of tapestry and carpets, with a low content of water. On the basis of the results of determinations of the physicochemical and useful properties (a.o. solubility in water and alkalies, stability of aqueous solutions, foaming power, anti-redepositing power, film-forming properties) it has been established that the most suitable are sodium salts of methyl methacrylate — methacrylic acid copolymers (molar ratio of comonomers as 7:3) with molecular mass of 21 500.
