Summary

Mixtures of triethanolamine and 3-bromo-1,2-propanediol together with 1,4-butanediol have been used as chain extenders and crosslinking agents in the synthesis of urethane eiasto:ners. The composition of this mixture and conditions of heating the elastomers have been established, which warrant the highest strengt properties. An additional crosslinking effect due to the formation of an ammonium salt between the tertiary nitrogen atom of triethanolamine and bromine atom in 3-bromo-1,2-propanediol raises the glass transition point and the flow temperature and improves the thermal stability of elastomers.
