Template polymerization of multimonomers

Dilatometry was used to study the kinetics of template (matrix) polymerization of poly(2-acryloyloxyethyl methacrylate) (I) and poly(methacryloyloxyethyl methacrylate) (II) carried out in dimethylformamide and 1,4-dioxane in the presence of A1BN as a photoinitiator. Radical buildup and decay in the photopolymerization of II was followed in terms of EPR spectra. The kinetic equation describing this process showed the orders of the re action with respect to the monomer and to the initiator to be 1 and 0.25, resp. The energy of activation of photopolymerizations of I and II were found to be 42.7 and 64.9 kJ/mol, resp. The mechanism and the description of the re action in terms of dispersive kinetics (Fig. 5, eqn. 4) are discussed.
