Summary

Basic and applied research is described, conducted on polymers at the Chemical Research Institute (1933-1939), Central Institute of Industrial Chemistry (1946-1951), Institute of Plastics (1952-1970) and Industrial Chemistry Research Institute (1970 until now), Warsaw, Żoliborz District. Until 1939, production technology of butadiene and synthetic rubber (KER) was the primary research subject. In the post-war period, production and processing of various thermoplastics, synthetic resins, adhesives, sealants, and coatings were focused on. Industrial implementations and licences granted abroad are mentioned.
