Summary

Tire CADMOULD-3D computer system is described. It enables the processes of injection molding of polymers to be modelled. Theoretical principles are presented, concerning the mold filling step, and an example is given concerning the modeling of a selected molding type. Tire CADMOULD-3D generates a geometrical characteristics of the mold and produces a structure of finite elements (FEM) in the tridimensional system (Fig. 1). CADMOULD-3D solves various modeling problems that are encountered in injection molding, processes the data obtained, and presents the resulting data graphically (Figs. 2—4). Important modeling aspects are discussed like selection of gate location, appropriate filling of the mold, calculation of the pressure required to fill the mold completely, etc.
