The DSC investigations on the heat of fusion and crystallization of polyamide 6 and polyacetal materials

Summary

Polish-made polyamide 6 (Tamamid T-27) and polyacetal (Tamform 300) were investigated. These plastics have a partially crystalline structure. Moulded pieces made of these plastics were investigated, and one-half were additionally heat-treated. Samples of annealed and non-annealed moulded pieces were investigated by the DSC method. Different heating and cooling rates, 1—10 deg/min, were applied. The enthalpies and temperatur es of fusion and crystallization and their variation with the DSC heating rate were determined. The heat of fusion was used to calculate the degree of crystallinity. The additional heat treatment raised the heat of fusion (the degree of crystallinity), but not the heat of crystallization and their variation with the DSC heating rate.
