The effect of PH-value of the medium on the degradation of polyamide-6 during its modification with glyoxalic acid. I. Course of the process in the medium of an activator in an equimolar aqueous solution of formic acid
The effect of sodium formate on pH-value and redox potential in an equimolar solution of about 72% formid acid as activator with various amounts of glyoxalic acid has been investigated. The effect of the salt of activator in the system on the solubility of polyamide- 6 in the reaction medium .and on the reduction of polymer degradation during heating has been studied. A dependence between pH-value of the solution and its redox potential versus polymer degradation (decrease in relative viscosity) has been observed for various values of the reaction temperature.
