Summary

The course of PA-6 modification in aqueous solutions of formic acid (activator) containing various amounts of glyoxalic acid (modifier) has been investigated from the point of the possibility of reducing polymer degradation during that process performed at 90C for 4 hours. The effect of HCOOH concentration in the solution and of the addition of sodium formate on changes of relative viscosity of PA-6 and on the values of pH and redox potential of the modifying medium has been determined. Degradation of PA-6 is reduced at lower concentrations of HCOOH and at higher mounts of HCOONa.
