Summary

Fractal types and their characteristic quantities are reviewed. Studies on the structure of fractals and other disordered (1—200 nm range) systems carried out in terms of small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) are described with particular reference to ion aggregates in styrene—(Zn, Co, or Ni) acrylate copolymers. The structure of ionomers can be described in terms of surface fractals, 2.01—2.44 in size. As temperature is raised, the fractal surface dimension diminishes.
