The reasons for damage and deformation in fiber-reinforced plastics

Polimery 2002, No 1, 48

Summary

Process-induced thermomechanical stresses give rise to crack initiation, crack growth, and final failure. Fundamentals of thermomechanical phenomena are presented (eqns. 1—8); possible reasons for stresses are outlined and illustrative CAD calculations are presented (Figs. 3—6).

Keywords:

fiber-reinforced plastics, shaping of articles, CAD calculations, computer-assisted modeling
