The use of computer-controlled Derivatograph C in the studies of the thermal characteristics of rubbers

Summary

With the use of the computer-controlled Derivatograph C (MOM, Hungary) .the preliminary studies of the course of thermal degradation of a series of rubbers differing in chemical structure (namely silicon, hydrocarbon, fluorinated rubbers) - have been .cmijied out and the parameters of their degradation obtained by this method have Ьееп сотРпиреЙ with the data from thermogravimetric (TGA) method. Some discrepancies in the values of гйезе parameters from these two .methods have been observed. The possibility of application of Derivatograpf C to the evaluation of the blends of hydrocarbon rubbers with fillers — silica, kaolin, chalk and carbon black — namely to the determination of their compisltion, has also been investigated. The average accuracy of the determinations of the content of these rubbers and fillers was r 2.5'/i by weight in relation to theoretical values, as calculated on the basis of the known compositions of the rubber mixtures.
