Summary
In the semi-quantitative TLC method developed cellulose-coated „Merck" plates are used. After having been eluted with a 40:40:20 v/v isopropanol—25% acetic acid—toluene mixture, the chromatogram is developer in iodine vapours along about 11 cm. Four model fluids were used to simulate the contact of a polyolefin material with food: distilled water, 3% acetic acid, 15% ethanol, and sunflower oil. Under the adopted conditions of the determination and with due account for the effect of other additives present in the polyolefin material, i.e., Irganox B-215 and calcium stearate, the limit of Tinuvin 622 detection in one chromatographic spot was found to be 0.25 µg.
