Summary

In the range of pressure difference of 0—10 atm (0—1 MPa) at 20°C the yield and selectivity were examined for the permeation processes of C02, CH4 and their mixtures at various molar ratios through hollow fibres made of polypropylene (PP) and poly(4-methyl-l-pentene) (PMP). Permeabilities were determined for C02 and CH4 both as single gases and as mixture components. The effective selectivity of the permeation process of mixtures was found to deviate from that predicted from single gases permeabilities. The ideal selectivity coefficient was found to be only an approximate, often very rough, measure of the separation properties of real permeation systems.
