Summary

The main reason of underdevelopment of polymers production in Poland is the non-existence of a modern raw-materials supply. It is possible to expand and complement this supply by a more comprehensible utilization of acetylene and of synthesis gas in the production of monomers. The necessity of processing of main polymers, available in Poland in insufficient quantities, in the form of blends, alloys, and composites to obtain materials with exhanced properties, has been pointed out. To this aim, the development of production of various compatibilizers is indispensable. In the group of low-volume speciality polymers the most promising in Poland are studies on the development of polymers for medicine and electronics. The industrial research centres should be reorganized to establish more close response to the needs of plastics manufacturers in Poland.
