Catalytic Polymerization

Research areas


  • Catalytic polymerization of dienes, styrene, cyclic esters.
  • Synthesis of metalorganic complex structures of Ti, Rh, Fe and their application in organic synthesis.
  • Synthesis of ferrocene-based components for solid rocket fuels.
  • Synthesis of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and its derivatives containing various functional groups.
  • Application of solid acid catalysts composed of silica supported transition metal oxides and heteropolyacids in organic reactions (aromatic nitration, aromatic alkylation, polymerization).


Major achievements


  • Development of syndiotactic polystyrene synthesis technology based on titanium metallocenes obtained in ICRI.
  • Development of technology of hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (HNIW, CL-20, novel explosive) in collaboration with Warsaw University of Technology and Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry.
  • Development of novel application of titanocene based catalysts (obtained in ICRI) to hydrogenation, olefin oligomerization, and lactones polymerization.
  • Development of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) synthesis technology.


Equipment


  • Vacuum-inert gas system with vacuum pumps for conducting of reactions in waterless conditions and atmosphere of inert gas.
  • Reactors 500 ml and 1000 ml - Autoclave Engineers (max. temp. 300oC, pressure 200 atm.).
  • Reactor 500 ml or 3 l (exchangeable) - pressure till 10 atm.
  • Installation with 250 l reactor and the second reactor, which allow for steam distillation (operating conditions of the reactor: atmospheric pressure, temperature up to 90oC, atmosphere of inert gas).
  • Spectrophotometer VIS-723G, RAYLEIGH.
  • Electric laboratory furnace SNOL 8.2/100.
