DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Industrial Chemistry Research Institute kindly informs that Agreement No UDA-POIG.01.03.01-14-058/09-00 on financial support for the project "Complex Technology for Production of Engineering Polymers Based on Poly(phenylene oxide)"
realized within The Operational Programme Innovative Economy, financial perspective between 2007-2013, was signed with The Information Processing Centre (OPI) on 16 September 2009.

Description

The technology developed within the project will be presented as preliminary basic engineering consisted of three independent technology studies on the three essential steps: manufacture of monomer - 2,6-dimethylphenol, its polymerization to poly(phenylene oxide) and modification of poly(phenylene oxide) in order to obtain products for various applications.

Research works are focused on:

  • in the manufacturing process of 2,6-dimethylphenol - research synthesis process with use of a fluid or solid bed methods, elaboration of methods of 2,6-dimethylphenol purification proper to poly(phenylene oxide) manufacturing
  • in the manufacturing process of PPO/PPE - development of new catalytic system, new reaction environment and new method of precipitation and purification of the polymer;
  • in the process of modification of the PPO/PPE - the development of a number of commercial types of the polymer modified to blends, composites (and nanocomposites) and grades obtained by coupling with other polymers with use of reactive extrusion process.
