Modeling of generalized flow of newtonian fluids by the POLYFLOW system

Summary

POLYFLOW techniques are described to model some generalized flow problems of Newtonian fluids. Convergent nonisothermal flow of a Bird-Carreau fluid was simulated under isothermal and adiabatic conditions prevailing at the channel wall. Polymer flow rate (Q) was found to affect temperature and pressure profiles; the profiles were formed mostly within the end section of the channel. Both under isothermal and adiabatic conditions the temperature profiles were found to be nonuniform, the isothermal situation likening more to that of the real extrusion conditions.
