Summary

Optimization method for single screw extrusion has been developed basedon the computer model of the process using evolutionary techniques (GeneticAlgorithms). The single screw extrusion simulation program GSEM (Global ScrewExtrusion Model) and the evolutionary optimization program GASEO, especially designed for this purpose, were used. Program GSEM was the source ofoptimization data, and program GASEO was the optimization tool. On the basis of simulation studies the selected parameters of extrusion process – screw speed and screw metering section length – were optimized from the viewpoint of maximum extrusion output and minimum power consumption.
